The Learning Curve..
Transition is hard.
Change can be difficult.
and working outside your comfort zone can be challenging to say the least.
YUP basically sums up my first week here in Kenya.
I never thought in a million years I would be a journalist working for a non-profit, yet I find myself half way across the world holding a piece of equipment I know nothing about.. wonderful, great, spectacular* hope your catching the sarcasm here.. the feelings of inadequacy could go on and on so it seems.
luckily I have a MWALIMU (teacher) by the name of Jenny England that keeps reminding me that the Holy Spirit is my qualification.
So as I take on the day, jet lagged and all, I will not give into the hardships Kenya has been throwing my way.. instead I will rely on the the Lord to get me through and work my butt off until I become the best stinkin' photographer ever.
Cheers to seasons that stretch us : )

147 million orphans
We are two moms who love orphans! We met seven years ago as we were both going through our first adoptions (one domestic and one international) … Thirteen kids and seven adoptions later, we are bound together through faith and mission. We love “doing life together” and accepting the call to speak up for orphans everywhere. We want to help as many people as possible to see the 147 million orphans as scripture calls them, “…those who have no voice.” We want you to see YOUR PART in helping change the life of an orphan. Could it be adoption, sponsoring a child, volunteering for orphan care ministry, rocking babies at an orphanage, financially supporting someone adopting, or buying these products?
Here are the ministries that 147 Million Orphans currently supports through financial investment:
Store Locator
Our entire 147 collection can be found online at our website www.147millionorphans.com
We do offer gear through a select group of retail partners. So, if you live in the these areas, stop by and check out the 147 Gear at the following stores...
Raine, 130 Wilson Pike Circle, Brentwood, TN 37027
Shops On Main, 413 Main Street, Franklin, TN 37064
Sisters, 35 Public Square, Salem, Indiana
For Every Child, 111 5th Avenue North, Franklin, TN
so of course this is right up my alley but as i looked into their website, i was more encouraged then ever that starting something like this of my own one day is possible.. that sitting back and just accepting the statistics doesnt have to be how i respond.. here two moms said yes and on top of all their other responsibilies, started an incredible organization that helps feed children in Uganda, Haiti, Honduras, China, and Ethiopia.
with each purchase you join them in loving and providing for those without families.
